To further prove my point that one must well know one’s
subject, let’s go back to Governor Perry.
When Texas Gov. Rick Perry drew a
blank during a GOP Presidential debate in November 2011, everyone was shocked,
Gentle Reader. Could it be that he did not know his subject, they asked? His
lapse of knowledge was in all the papers. It was even called “brain freeze” (an
unnerving event all people can experience in times of stress, because of
distraction or competing memories, lack of knowledgeability, or any combination thereof, etc.).
And people were not very charitable about it, certainly not
the media.
Nor are people indulgent of much mental inadequacy in
anyone, at all, these days,; brief as it may be. One event can be enough to
forever color the observer’s opinion. It seems that most of us are actually natural
born critics and comfortably self-righteous about it. Me
included—unfortunately. (This jumping to conclusions, some might even call it being judgmental, is a perfect example of misguided thinking on my
part that Holy Spirit is having to reshape in me—actually writing this blog is part
of that process.)
