So far, Gentle Reader, the only profound communication remedy
I have found for the Christian or the politician is for both to either know the
subject matter to a surfeit, or redirect the questioner. The wise Christian can
respond to excessive questioning by saying: you know, I don’t have the full
answer on that. Let me get back to you in a short time! Or, the Christian, could
say, such a question has many layers of answers, would you like to set aside some time to sort some of them
out?
Basically, for the Christian, remember the sweet new reality
that the lack of knowing, or reflexively trying to provide answers on the spot,
may actually be the best thing that could ever happen to the questioner. He or
she then can profit all the more richly if either agrees to pursue desired answers
on his or her own. Such time spend reasoning through a subject with others while
keeping an open mind and with appreciation for the generous offer of time and
explanation offered by the Christian can reap great rewards for both parties. Same
goes for the politician, actually.
